Week 3: Equipment

In Class: Mini-Project Milestone 2 (plus-or-minus!); The staff will demo the oscilloscope, a type of voltmeter that displays voltage vs. time. In this first introduction, the focus is on the most-important three knobs...vertical scale, horizontal scale, and the trigger threshold.

Assignment: Continue working on your proposal in the Google Drive and then submit your proposal by the deadline at GradeScope. Start gathering data from your mini-project and inserting it into a Weekly Journal in your own folder on the Google Drive.

Second-Draft Proposal...

After receiving mentor feedback on the first-draft proposal, students update these aspects of their proposal while also adding a section for background (broader research into the topic which also expands the number of references), a circuit schematic (that follows the progression of their flowchart), an approximate timeline with three or more distinct milestones (where smaller modules of their design are both constructed and validated), and an initial parts list (items needed to get them through, at least, the early weeks of their design. Include cost and distributor; Digikey or Mouser are most common). Again, feedback will be provided by the mentor ahead of the final project proposal to be submitted next week.

A second-draft proposal example is available as the template on GradeScope as well as here Download here.
