Team Assignment: Final Pitches in-class
- Due Dec 11, 2024 by 11:59pm
- Points 150
- Submitting a file upload
This is the group portion of the final project. Each team will be given ~20 minutes. 10 minutes Pitch and 5 minute Q&A. Students will then be given 2 minutes to complete judging form. That will leave a couple of minutes for transitions but each team needs to be ready to present as soon as their slot starts.
Teams are free to decide who presents but a minimum of 3 teams members are required to present and all teams members should actively participate in the Q&A.
All students will individually score the other teams, so attendance is mandatory on both dates as is prompt attendance.
The Pitch: ~10 minutes
While the pitch should attempt to convince a listener of the merits of your project, I'm more concerned with the development of the project and articulation of the process than the perceived chances of success for the project, so be sure to thoroughly address the "whys" behind your findings.
You should address the following:
1. Problem Statement
2. Solution Detail (What you are doing)
3. Product-Market Fit (Who are you doing it for and Why do they care)
4. Market – who cares and how many are there?
5. Competition – direct & indirect
6. Competitive Advantage
7. Go-to-Market - How will you distribute, sell and price your product/service?
8. Financial Projections/Funding Strategy
9. Team – unique qualifications
10. Ask – what do you need (talent, advice, money, etc.)?
11. Now what? next steps, key milestones
You should order your presentation in a way that best conveys your message and add any content that you feel enhances your story.
SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR PRESENTATION BY THE END OF CLASS
Special Note: Pay particular attention to your assessment of your Product-Market Fit: You should demonstrate an evolution based upon your customer discovery experience. Feel free to use the Business Model Canvas or the Value Proposition Canvas if it helps to tell your story. You should tie Value Proposition & Customer Segment together to demonstrate Product-Market fit for at least one customer segment. Specifically and quantitatively tell us 1. Who will buy, and 2. Why they will buy. The more specific you can be with customer archetypes and underlying motivations the better. I'm not expecting a perfectly viable outcome. I want to know how you got to this point and what you presently believe.
Q&A and Scoring: ~5 minutes
Q&A will be led by the team presenting and questioning will primarily come from the class. I may or may not ask any questions at all. Your individual active participation will be taken into account as part of your overall final participation grade. I will review all recordings before assigning final grades to ensure you are actively engaged in the questioning of your peers.
In additional, each student will anonymously score the other teams' presentations. This is evidence of your ability to critically evaluate your peers using topics learned in class.
