1.5 Using the Syllabus Tool

Overview

When it comes to sharing essential course information--including required assignments, due dates, and grading details--Canvas provides a wide variety of options. For instance, some instructors provide a link to their syllabus on the course home page, while other instructors include their syllabus and essential information in an "orientation module," usually located near the top of their course's Modules index page.

In addition to the approaches described above, Canvas includes a helpful Syllabus tool, which provides instructors with several powerful ways to convey essential course information. Specifically, the Syllabus tool (pictured below) offers a customizable Description area, a Sidebar (with course calendar and grading scheme), and Course Summary, which displays all course assignments and their associated due dates.
