3.3 Discussions
Overview
Threaded discussions continue to be one of the most popular methods for encouraging participation and engagement in the online environment. The Canvas discussion tool provides ample opportunities to push classroom conversations beyond the traditional read something, post something, reply to someone approach. The discussion tool offers an excellent way to create and maintain a sense of community in your course--whether you're using it for icebreaker activities or crowd-sourced ask anything threads--and can also serve as a convenient way to reiterate essential information (a Course FAQ forum, for instance). Additionally, many instructors use group discussions as a way to facilitate group assignments and other collaborative projects.
