Psychology Department Seminar
The Friday Workshop
Weekly Drop-In Professional Development
On Fridays when there is no First Friday Psychology-Beckman Colloquium, we invite everyone, particularly graduate students, to join The Friday Workshop for a weekly informal seminar series focused on professional development and interdisciplinary skills, in a space designed to learn, connect, and think beyond traditional divisions.
When and Where: Fridays at 11:00 am - 11:50 am in room 815 Psychology
Many of the most important professional skills in graduate school are learned outside formal coursework: navigating career decisions, evaluating advice, building professional relationships, understanding workplace dynamics, and finding reliable resources when challenges arise. This seminar provides a supportive, discussion-oriented, cross-area environment to explore the current discourse and norms surrounding those issues as they emerge. Topics are flexible and evolve from year to year, creating an expanding, up-to-date repository of practical knowledge relevant to psychology graduate students and the people who work with them. Whether you're looking for guidance, community, or simply a broader perspective than what is available within your own research group or area, The Friday Workshop is set up to help you develop skills and connections that will serve you throughout your career, both inside and outside academia.
While the series is designed with graduate students in mind, all members of the department are welcome, including faculty, staff, and undergraduates.
